Wednesday morning we woke to -16 degrees...definitely a record for us here...we get cold, but not quite that cold on a regular basis. The high that day was a balmy 14 degrees. Thank goodness the wind wasn't blowing.
Some photos from the past few days~~
The welcome sign at the rail fence coming up to the house.
This is the first lil' skiff of snow we got.

These photos are starting at sunrise Tuesday morning after we had most of the snow fall.
Cindy Sue is really loving her new winter coat.
She dives her nose into it when we get ready to go outside.
I was out fixing the hot wire fence here. The afternoon was beautiful...no wind!

Our handy dandy lil' tractor.
I use it to feed when the snow is too deep to push a
wheel barrow in and it gets lots of snow plowing too!

I think a lot more than the hollyhocks are longing for spring! I'm already sick of this cold stuff and we have a couple more months to go.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, I just want to kiss Colts muzzle!
ReplyDeleteIt's so beautiful there! I wish I lived somewhere like that. Thanks for sharing the nice photos! I love the one of Cindy Sue:
ReplyDelete"Two paths diverged in the snow. Which path will Cindy Sue chose?" ;)
As a fellow pac northwester, we've had unseasoninly cold weather and snow too...it's tough to deal with when you aren't accustomed to it, or properly equipped!
Pony Girl, lets pack our ponies and saddles and head on down, okay? I just checked wunderground and its warmer in Burns than Bellingham right now...
ReplyDeleteK~I love, love, love the barn door shot! You'll need to enlarge it and hang it on your wall.
I love your blog. My Grandmother was a school teacher in Harney county for years and we love it there.Sometimes we go over just for the weekend to drive around and enjoy how gorgeoues it is.
ReplyDeleteIt is also our dream to move to Eastern Oregon adn have a racnh. My husbands dad is a cattle rancher in Oklahoma but I love E. Oregon better ;)
Awesome pictures! Our dogs like eating that frozen country fiber too, it's gross but it's easier to watch than when they eat the soft stuff come spring.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pic gttyup!, snowy and cold here to, damn wind is supposed to realy kick up. The Gorge is beautiful but a giant wind tunnel!
ReplyDeleteWow! You took some very good pictures. I like the ones with the interesting angles, like the icicles and pretty blue barn wall, the barn door piled up with snow, the drifts in the barn, the fenceline. All so beautiful and interesting!
ReplyDeleteCindy Sue looks so festive in her new coat, too. And Cowboy...well, I just don't know what to say about his taste in...um...snacks. (ewww!)
But that last photo of him standing in the snow is realy nice.
My favorite of all your photos would ahve to be Colt's snowy nose, though. I just want to trace my finger on his velvety nose and flick the snow off. He's cute :)
-16 degrees, eh? Brrr! Last winter we got down to -9 and I thought that was unbearably cold. How many layers of clothes do you put on when your temps are that low?? gah!
Happy Holidays!

Kisser had a winter coat last year. It was a brown bomber jacket. He was so handsome! He also lost it! Great pics of the snow. I'm pretty sure we won't get any around here until 09!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! Just beautiful! Love the barn door pic too! Colt's muzzle looks like my "Willis".
ReplyDeleteLove Cindy Sues jacket, she looks warm!
Cowboy~well, they do love them don't they!! :O
Loved all the pics. You live in beautiful country. Wish we had some snow here, about all we get anymore is a dusting.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at the "shitsicle" comment!! It doesn't get cold enought for 'sicles here, but our rottie does enjoy her daily shit biscuit...
ReplyDeleteNice shots! Keep up the good photo work!
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty the snow is.....at YOUR house!
ReplyDeleteOur 28" is just about gone now and we have a Lake! All the run off from these Palouse hills to a low spot in one of the pastures! If I wasn't so DONE with winter, I'd go Ice Skating!
