An Afternoon in the Field

~It's ill-mannered to ask a cowboy his name until he says howdy first.~
~Mary Rose 1875~

I can always find something to blog about...in fact I have a list (I do a lot of lists because of all my gray hair). But, it's much more fun for me to have photos! So, off to the alfalfa field to move wheel lines...

What a Lil' Water Will Do
Isn't it amazing what a lil' bit of water will do in the desert?

Draining the Pipes
Some of the drains stick, so I kick them open...and have to wait for them to drain.

Alfalfa Bloom
While waiting...there's lots of stuff to photograph...like an Alfalfa bloom...

Enjoying the Summer
...or some of the hundreds of birds hanging around...

Colt is Watching the Neighbor's Horses
...or Colt, who is intently watching the neighbor's horses running in their field...

Hay!! I Can't See!!
...hey...what's this??? It's Cindy Sue!!    "A lil' girl like me could get lost in here!"

I AM the RattieRanchDog!
"But, they don't call me Rattie Ranch Dog for nothin'!!"

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!

  1. Well hellllooo Karen!!! It's been a while, but I've just been doin' a little readin' and catchin' up. COLT IS LOOKING AMAZING!!! I just gotta say that boy is looking mighty fine, more and more handsome all the time! I checked out your reining video and I think he looks great! His spins look really good and his flying changes are amazing. The slide will come, that's not very important anyway for real riding...but it'll come. I'm so proud of you two, you're doing fantastic!! I'll just say here that I'm a little green with envy of you two. :) Anyway, loved catchin up and seeing all your beautiful pics, sounds like you've been busy too; and *sigh*, I hear ya on it feeling like fall already. What's up with that anyway?? I'm just not ready for our summer to be over yet! :( Let's keep hopin and prayin that we have a long, sunny Indian summer...that would be just fine in my book. Well you take care girl, glad you got hooked up with your old girlfriend. That's very cool! Give that handsome horse a smooch for me, kay? Lorie

  3. Know what the first thing I think of when I see irrigation pipes like that in farm land? beer! i had a (somewhat creepy) cousin that knew exactly where, in all those miles of seemingly identical rows of planted crops and irrigation pipes, he stuck his beer bottles, so they'd be 'rodeo cool'!

  4. One job I don't like is irrigating (mostly cause of the mosquitos). But I love the smell of Alfalfa.
