More Newborn's!

Ellie Mae finally decided to have her calf...another lil' bull calf.

He's not nearly as cute or photogenic as the lil' brown calf. But what he lacks in cuteness, he makes up for in spunk! He is a feisty lil' guy...could hardly stand and he was trying to run 'n buck! He fell down numerous times, and he just kept gettin' back up and doin' it all over again!

But the lil' guy sure got the milk thing down quickly! He's going to need all the nourishment he can get with his energy!

OK...he's cute in his own way...and his momma loves him...that's what counts!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The owls have been busy too...nesting...
See the round hole in the rock cliff just above the "g"?
Here's a closer look...
And a lil' closer...
This is momma owl, and it's the first time I've seen her sitting at the edge of the hole. So, I think the eggs have hatched! We'll be watching for the lil' ones!
  1. That is a great photo of the rock face, and you need a keen eye to spot the owl. The little black calf is cute too!
    I love your blog format, where did you find it?
  6. You're welcome GunDiva...but this pair of Great Horned Owls have lived here longer than we have...they came with the place so to speak! It took me until the second year we were here to find their nesting spot (when I saw one of the fledglings fall from the nest). They nest in the same spot every year. Last year they had 5 young ones...we'll see what they come up with this year!
