We've been going to an informal "doggie school" on Saturday mornin's. We're doing basic obedience and beginning agility...and other FUN games!
Below is the class from last Saturday; three Aussie's, two Corgi's and a lab...oh yes, then there's Cricket...
Every pup in the down/stay command |
Cricket is a Jack Russell Terrier...who's still too young to stay still long enough...except when she's in the crate!!
Cricket...isn't she cute or what!?!? |
Cricket's really good at the Search Game though!! We put out 5-6 paper plates and randomly hide a piece of hot dog under a couple of them. We give the command to "search" and the dog has to touch and search each plate to find the hot dog. Once they do, we ask them to sit...then go on to the next plate. All the dogs LOVE this game!
Look at Fire the Lab and Max the Corgi...they're just as intent on the plate as Cricket is...well, so is Red in the foreground on the left! |
Spice is taking a quick nap. |
This is Pepper. She's Red's BFF from when he lived with B & B. |
Bailey...she is getting pretty good at working cattle in the chute I hear. She may have short legs, but she's fast! |
Fire...such a pretty girl. Her owner and our teacher is training her for bird hunting. |
And Red of course...Mr. Happy! |
I tried some action shots, but I've yet to figure out the right settings for indoor/action (all I got was a blur)...I'll try again next week.
Happy Monday everyone...have a great week!
Happy dogs- they like having something to do, don't they? Red is a very handsome fellow.
ReplyDeleteOh what fun!!! we had a corgiX named eleroy - and he would have had the same look on his face watching another dog eat HIS hotdog - all food within a certain radius was his - he would watch you with sad eyes while you ate - corgis are SO food oriented!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your doggy day with us!
What beautiful shots of the dogs! I found, when we took our little lap dog to obediance school, that th etraining was for us...we learned a lot! But it was fun to see the different personalities. Do you have a "sports" setting on your camera? That's the one I use for action shots...seems to work fine. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat puppies. Love them all but especially partial to aussies.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried upping your iso and opening the f stop as wide as it'll go? Perhaps f2.8 or f4.6?
All the dogs you showed us seemed well behaved...they're a good looking bunch! Looks like a fun class to be a part of. Have fun! :)
ReplyDeleteAhhh, they all look so 'still'! Thats not an easy thing with that mix of doggy energy!
ReplyDeleteLooks likea good time there, I like the find the plate trick, sure is a good reward for them to get right away. Red is sure looking good and very cheerful!
ReplyDeleteCute dogs and great shots. When you're working with action shots, you want to set the shutter speed, try 600 and if that doesn't work, try 800. Good luck
ReplyDeleteVery cool, and a great diversity of dogs, moms Silky terrier Harley need some of this training baaaaad.:-)
ReplyDeleteThis all looked very interesting! Yeah, maybe all those other dogs were thinking, "When's MY turn to find the hot dog??" LOL This is especially interesting in light of the fact that we just got a pup a few days ago! :)
ReplyDeleteAll such sweet pups! Well behaved. Too bad I can't say that for my two ornery boxers. :-)) Enjoyed looking around your blog today.
