Fixin' fence is an ongoing thing with the amount of deer that we have who make it a point to rip as much of the hot wire down as they cross the fences.
The real strange part is that there isn't any food for them to eat along the rim pasture, so it beats the heck out of me why they keep crossin' the dang fence!
Well, the hot wire had been down for at least a couple of months, and I finally got out there to fix it (which the deer promptly tore down again the next night *sigh*). As I was walking the fence, a strange object hanging on the fence caught my eye...
It took me a while to figure out exactly what it was. The bones looked like a snake....
Let me tip it up with my Leatherwoman.
Isn't he cute!!! I would say he was not happy
at the time of his death.
Look at those eyes!
Some raptor had a fine meal out of this guy. Between all of the hawks, eagles, owls...my guess it was probably one of the great horned owls. The snake tried to bite the bird and bit himself instead! The bird must have dropped part of the snake and it landed on the fence...and has been there for most of the summer...baking...ewwww...
OK...enough of the snake.
I'll leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling...
Well I'll be darned.
ReplyDeleteGive Cowboy a kiss for me!
What a nasty find!! I would hate to run across that shriveled up snake anywhere! But I am so terrified of snakes, dead or alive!! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteCowboy is one handsome pup!
What an interesting find, with the bite on himself to boot.
ReplyDeleteI'm fine with snakes, but SPIDERS no way!
Today hubby had a big spider crawling up the front of his jacket and I yelled, telling him to get it......uuuugggghhhh!
What a strange find! That's very different!
ReplyDeleteThat is kinda icky!
ReplyDeleteKind of gross, but also very interesting. When I was looking at the first picture I was thinking "How on earth did it get wrapped on the fence?" But your theory explains that perfectly.
ReplyDeleteCowboy has such a happy, big grin face I couldn't help smiling into my coffee when I reached his picture, he looks like a great partner!
That is too COOL!!! Looks like he was fryin' and holding on for dear life..:-))
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty darn cool find! I would have taken it home and hung it on my porch or something. Lol.
