After the Egg...

Sittin' the Nest

Newborn Robin's

Two days after I took photos of the beautiful blue Robin's eggs they hatched. Baby birds sure are ugly!! Momma Robin is very good at dive bombing me though!! OH she gets mad at me!

They built the nest in the woodshed on top of the stack...hope the cat doesn't find them :( Silly birds.

And yes, that was snow in the photo on Wordless Wednesday...from the night of May 16...we're trying to get into spring!

  1. Look at that proud Mama perched on the nest. Such a beauty. I have to agree with you about the babies, a classic case of the ugly ducklings!

  2. I LOVE that first picture of the Robin in her nest. We drove through Burns again on Thursday afternoon. Oh Karen! Where did all that water come from? It was like a road through a lake! And even some houses were sitting in it, and the road was closed through town. I hope things wern't too messed up and hope you and John were able to stay high and dry at your place! I hate seeing things like that happen, especially in small towns. So frustrated for them!

but darn...im at a loss for words!

    Lovely photos though!

And we are flooding here - our creek is OVERFLOWING. And the roads are getting soft; branding is slow out here...did you people over there send the rain? :p

  4. After seeing all of the pictures of cute baby lambs, cute foals, cute kids (4-legged variety) and cute calves.... I take back what I said about all babies being cute!
Ugly...ugly...ugly....ugly! Poor mama Robin. But, they do turn into something pretty!

  7. Nice photos! A good thing to remember yes- ugliness is often a burden to be overcome.

  8. Love it! I had a few shots like these a couple of years ago.

The Robins ALWAYS make a nest under the shelter of the gooseneck trailer!

  9. great shots! I don't think our robins have started nesting yet, or at least the two nests I know of are as yet unoccupied. everything seems to be later here this year anyway.

  10. So I take it you were pretty brave to get these photos? :) Very neat! But wow do those baby birds look bare and scrawny! But I think Robins are my favorite birds. Have a great week!
