Well...at least I think we're gettin' back to normal...whatever 'normal' is...
As the rest of the USA and Canada get hit with a blizzard, we have sunshine with not a cloud in the sky. It's a bit chilly; 15 degrees this mornin'. And it's supposed to be down to between -6 to 8 above tonight. I think the rest of you all broke the National Weather Service website, because it hasn't worked right since yesterday!!!

It's amazing how quickly she's healing...I know it's because of everyones good thoughts and prayers. But, she's doing great!! But, you know what? She didn't learn one darn thing from those two coyotes...she went strolling out toward that fence line again this mornin' while I was gettin' the first load of hay. I called them all back (waited until they were all with me) and finished feeding. I've got a long leash that she's going to be on when I can't keep an eagle eye on her. Did you know her middle name is 'trouble?'

Way back last year...May 14, 2010 to be exact...I did one post about our
'tack room makeover.' And actually, the whole barn will eventually get a makeover, but $$$ and time seem to keep the process going at a crawl. But, My Man is really doing a great job for what's gotten done so far.

| After ripping out the whole tack room floor, he put in a 'real' floor; including insulation. |

This is tongue & groove wafer board...we won't be falling through this floor!
He also insulated the ceiling and covered it with wafer board.

We're still waiting for the oak paneling that's going to be coming out of a building that is being demolished. I think there will be enough to line the inside walls, and maybe even the outside walls too! Then the last thing with the tack room will be the 4 foot door...probably not going to happen until next fall/winter.
But My Man's been working his lil' butt off this past winter on the barn ceiling...it's been a bird nesting haven...but not any more!!

My Man has lined the whole ceiling (36' x 48') with sheets of wafer board.
He had use of a scissor lift from a friend, which really helped!
This last section is inside my grain room and he couldn't get the lift inside it.

to get all the bird crap off of everything!!! |
Next is the floor. We've got to bring up the ground level in the barn 6-8 inches. That will prevent the flooding we get down the isle way and inside the stalls when it rains real hard or the snow melts. The stalls already have rubber mats, but the isle will get rubber mats too...I can't wait for that to happen!
Well, I'm off to work on the taxes...great fun huh?!?
