Views from the East Steens Road

One of the perks of my Ag Survey job is the scenery...yesterday was a "wintery mix" of snow, rain and sunshine.

Today, I've got to go back up to John Day/Mt. Vernon...gotta run! Hope you all have a great Tuesday!

  2. Oh... thank you for posting these! Its a trip back through memory lane for me, as we used to ranch in the Trout Creek Mountains, southeast of these shots. Thanks!

  5. My favourite is the third-to-last one. So mysterious. That's some beautiful country you get to take in!

  12. maiden53~The photo really didn't catch the darkness of the cloud that half covered the hillside, but it was interesting how the cloud edge had a vertical edge...that's what caught my eye.

The 3rd pic from the end? You guys liked it? I almost didn't include it because I thought it looked almost gross and dirty. It's actually the Alvord Hot Springs coming out of the ground. Extremely hot water that will scald you if not mixed with cold water.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'll try to get down that road again when it's sunny...it's really spectacular!

  13. Beautiful! Are you sure you want to share this stuff with the general public? You're going to have a bunch of people moving in around there if the word gets out. :)

  16. Beautiful pics!

I had a friend who lived in John Day for a while so I actually know where it's at. Usually don't know where those little towns might be. LOL
