  10. Even with a zoom this would have been a hard shot to get. I spent one evening last fall stalking an owl around the back yard, for an hour, before he finally got sick of me and left. I only ever got a profil pic from a distance. This is a beautiful picture!

  11. am reading your profile, what a big farm you have. Do have problem with not enough water?

Once I went on a 3 hour horse riding afternoon with my son and our friends. The old farmer's sheep farm wasn't making much money. His American daughter in law persuaded him to convert part of it into a tourist horse riding place, and school and they have about twenty horses. They had a youngish girl from USA who helped in exchange for lodging and lessons.

We rode through ravines and rivers, and it was too much for me. I came home in the farmer's "mechanical" horse. Some thing I have to live down for the rest of my life.

if you look carefully at one of the photos, the riderless horse was mine.

  12. Yes, same Great Horned owls day after day in our yard. They are a nesting pair. Last year they had 4 little ones. Sometimes one of them still perches in the trees in the yard. Honestly, the sit there all day long. Then at dusk, they take off for their night time life. At dawn, they're back in the trees again. With the new camera I hope to get photos of their babies this spring.

Ann~SE Oregon is high desert, which of course means not a lot of water. We have enough for what we need. Irrigation is how we grow our alfalfa fields and the rest is just sage brush and bunch grass.

  13. Beautiful! I was a great program on Yellowstone the other night and they had footage of a crow (I think) attacking an owl, it kept whizzing threateningly by the owl's head, and fluffing the owl's feathers, but he just ignored it. It was kinda funny, actually!
