Sunday Stills ~ Technology

This week's Sunday Stills photo challenge is Technology.

I'm one of the slowest people to get into the techno gadget thing...but the gadgets that I do have are useful to me...either daily or upon occasion.

This is my upon occasion gadget. I never thought I'd own
or want to own an iPod...it really bugs me to see
kids plugged into their iPods all day long...they're
loosing out on communicating and being social...IMHO.

But when my lil' brother brought his to a family get together
a couple of years ago and plugged it into a speaker device
I could see the possibilities!
MUSIC while camping without dragging around the
huge boom box and CD's!
We always take it camping and I also take it to
my hotel room when I'm doing my Ag Survey
trainings or field work...it's wonderful...
until I run out of battery power ;~)

This is our daily entertainment. Sirius satellite radio.
Without TV and only two radio stations in our area
(one of which we can only get during the daylight hours)
it's one of the best subscriptions we've ever made!
We love Willie's Place and Outlaw Country, and
I listen to The Coffee House most of the day.

My last subject is not so technologically advanced but I still consider it technology...it's a huge time saver to us and many others who own livestock or pets...

I'm sure whoever invented the water tank heater
is basking in the sun in Jamaica right now
enjoying a beverage with an umbrella in it!

Head on over to the comments Here at Sunday Stills and check out the other challenge participants!

  1. Good post and boy do I know about the stock heaters. We just had to do some fancy foot work around here. One heater was toast and at -25 it didn't take long to freeze my tank. Now we have them in both water containers the nags are happy and I'm really happy.

  2. True on both counts, I have saved many cold nights of hauling water due to my tank heater...especially this last week!

  3. I don't have a tank to heat, but I do have an ipod, thanks to Ed. He helped me load all of my CD's into it, as well as many photos. It's nice to have. :) I have over 600 pieces of music on something small enought to carry in my purse!!

  4. If you own livestock and live in Canada, there is no life without stock tank heaters! I just bought one for Beamer's tank last week, and I have a sinking de-icer in the girls tank.

  5. I don't own an Ipod or subscribe to satellite radio, but I am SO with you, sister, on the auto waterer & tank heater! Life's most unappreciated item until the blizzard moves in!

    Good pics!

  6. I love all of the above! I just got an IPod and don't know how I did without one for so long. Tank heaters are the bane of our existence this time of year.....they're SO finicky but SO necessary. As for Sirus, it came in a couple of vehicles and NOW I actually listen to the radio:) I love technology!

  7. You're right about that last one, enjoying the sun. Nice pictures, like the iPod story. I wouldn't go on a trip without mine now.

  9. Only those of us who have had the fun experience of breaking the block of ice out of the livestock tank with already ice cold fingers could possible appreciate the real pleasure of having heated tanks! Ahhh ...technology!

  10. I was hoping someone was going to do a stock tank heater for the challenge. lol! We have the electric water buckets and I can't imagine not having them in the winter. Such a lifesaver, eh?

We listen to Sirius radio through our TV, too. It's easier than having a stereo along with all the crappy commercials that come along with them. lol!

    Great post! Fun photos.

  11. I never thought that I would want an Ipod but I love mine, especially when I am out doing chores or playing with the horses and weaving, you name it. A lot easier than a boom box! I sure agree with you, what would we do without our tank heaters!

  12. I don't have an Ipod and don't have a clue how to run one! LOL But everyone who lives where the winters are freezing need those tank heaters! I just did a blog about setting up my water heater!
