Can Animal Rescue Get Any Better Than This?

I can't help but post these two photos from the recent animal hoarding case here in Harney County.

It's amazing what just one adopter can do to change the life of a dog...

This photo was taken in the early part of December when the hoarding case was discovered.

Over 100 dogs scraping an existence in below zero temps
with little food and no shelter...

To this photo taken December 24.

Can Christmas get any better than this?
A loving home, a full belly and a snooze by
a warm fire...Amen~

  1. Just one voice, one heart, one home can make a huge impact. My grandmother is always telling me I can't save them all...but I can always save one.

  2. Aw, what a happy ending! Ugh, it just makes me sick to know so much animal neglect and abuse is going on out there in the world!! Especially during the winter months. I know there are horses starving in the cold of winter. Breaks my heart.

  6. That sure does warm the heart!!

My sweet Sunshine mutt was a rescue, and is truly an amazing part of my life. I know, in my heart, we were meant to be brought together. It hasn't been an easy road, but she is SUCH a good girl, and I am not sure how I will get on without her after she passes. You can see her on my blog, if you wish.

  8. Hoarding is such a misunderstood and untreated condition. It's bad enough when people hoard things but so much worse when they hoard living creatures like dogs, cats and horses.

It's good to see this dog is now in a safe place. Hopefully the rest of his buddies were as lucky.

  13. There is a saying I used to use when posting a photo/ad of an adoptable shelter dog. "You can't change the world, but you can change to world for me!"
Yes, it looks like one very lucky Australian Shepherd will be having a happy new year! Thanks for the post update.

  14. I've been following this case from the other side of the mountains. I understand that folks have been returning to the site to make further attempts to collect dogs that evaded the initial rescue.

Bless the rescuers, shelters, and new owners.

Oregon's tougher laws on puppy mills and hoarders take effect in a couple of days. I hope they work as intended.
