Snow on the Sage

WoW...that's a lot of posts! I never knew I had that much to say. After scrolling back through the titles, there isn't a lot there. Well, all there is to do is to post another 200!

Thanks for spendin' some time at the Rough String!

We got a nice snowfall last night.
It was 20 degrees this AM and the skies
were clear...a beautiful mornin'.

Colt & Brego were very happy to get their breakfast!

It's really nice to see something else besides brown.
Snow always brightens up the
landscape and makes simple
objects more interesting.

Stoic Bella Jo...

...is not always stoic! Cindy Sue can't quite figure out
what Bella's all excited about!

But, Ms Bella is really getting into this ranch life!

I've lost a few readers because of our varmint procedures around here...and I apologize for offending anyone. But, I will say that Bella Jo knows exactly what to do with a pack rat! She's dang quick let me tell you!

Yesterday Bella Jo, Cindy Sue and I packed the lil' commuter car and headed over to Bend. I had an exciting date with an endodontic specialist...in English that means Root Canal :( Three and a half hours of driving...two and a half hours in the dentist's chair...and then I had to pay them because I had such a good time...the good news is that the tooth is not fractured and they were able to complete the procedure.

Since we drove all that way, we had to stop in at Bend Pet Express and get Bella a new collar...and treats too of course! She had a blast in the pet store and was hugged on by everyone. Lil' Cindy Sue, who usually gets all the attention, had her worried look on her face. But, she was fine with it all...she still rides in the front seat, so that makes it all right!

We ran into some snow on the way home and didn't make it back until 5:30. It was a long 11 hour day away from home. There were some hungry ponies standing there in the dark with a hoof on each hip saying "It's 'bout time ya got here to feed us!"

  1. You've also gained some readers because of your realistic outlook. Me for one.
I'm hoping for your input on my blog post today as a matter of fact....

  2. What a nice post too! I am so glad that Bella is coming around so nicely! She seems to be a very smart dog.
And you are right, a little snow really makes simple things look interesting and you'll always find great photo opportunities.

  5. How can you possibly be less a few readers because of nasty disgusting varmits? Cindy Sue is a very good Varmit Gett'r. So is my terrier mix.
Must be PETA folks getting their panties in a twist.

I love your blog and your ability to keep it real.

    Hopefully We'll meet soon!

  8. I guess that it's very possible that Bella is experiencing her first snow fall. Anyway, she appears to be loving it!
So glad to hear that Cindy Sue still gets to ride shotgun and is still feeling like the top dog! It is sometimes very hard to share, but it looks like she's coping just fine.
Don't know if you read my November 11th post about my mule Polly, but you two have something in common, unfortunately it's much more difficult to do a root/tooth extraction on an old mule. Glad to hear that it went well for you.

  12. How were the roads? I so want to make one last trip before spring. Are the South Steens horses being brought in right now?

  13. Well poo! You lost readers just because you were keepin' it real? What do they want? A ranch that keeps hordes of rats as pets?

If we every have a pack rat problem, I'll be proud to have Cindy Sue come here and hunt 'em all down and do what is just plain natural. hmmph.

Your snow is sure pretty the way it blankets everything soft and white. I'm glad the endodontic appt. went well and the tooth wasn't fractured.

    Congrats on your 200th post!

  14. Congrats on post #200! I can't imagine how long it'll take me to get to that number, especially considering I only see my horses every three weeks or so, darn school.

The snow looks so great, such a nice addition to the brown landscape, and Bella Jo sure seems to be enjoying herself, it's nice to see her let loose and have some fun. Can't wait for the first snow fall here, I don't think Mia knows what snow is and I can't wait to toss her out into it.
