It's Like Having A New House!!

We now have a freshly painted house!! It's only taken us 3 years to get it done...but it's done...and I love it!!

We've determined that this old paint was the
original paint...1989!!

Two years ago, we had to replace some siding
on the addition, so we started painting then.
But, the color was wrong and then winter set in
and we never got back to it.

With My Man working a full time job in town and commuting an hour and a half a day, we knew that the only way to get the job done was to hire it out.

Our best friend Ron and his girl Carrie offered to do it...they did a fantastic job!

Everything went really smooth...the wind stayed
down and so did the temperature.

But after being here for 5 nights, they were happy
to be on their way back home.
Look at the beautiful detail on the trim!

It wasn't all work though; they spent the day
at the Kelley Rodeo with us and had a blast.
We ate really good food, drank a few beverages,
and had lots of laughs!

It's a new house!!!

Next comes staining the deck, and I'm in the process
of painting the dog houses and the chicken coop to match!

We learned one important thing...don't wait for 20 years to paint your house...it makes it a bugger to paint!

  1. A fresh coat of paint does wonders, doesn't it? Looks great! And of course, the dog houses and chicken coop HAVE to match. :)

  2. It looks really good! Your friends did a great job!! It is amazing how paint can make everything look brand new! We need to paint the outside of our house too. Hopefully next summer.

  7. Looks great. Nothing like a fresh coat of paint to renew the life into something. The husband and I were talking about painting our house. Like y'all, I don't think ours has been painted in over 20 years either!

  8. Uh oh! Now you might drive right on by your house and not even recognize it! hehe!
It looks awesome. I like the tr-color combination. Excellent choice.

Now the only problem you'll have to face (as you are now with the chicken coop and dog houses) is that once you start doing a home project, you can't help but keep going. lol!

  9. Thank you everyone...we were just going to do the tan and green but we decided to be BOLD and go for the red accent!

    Dusty~Hope your painting goes well.

Wife~Be prepared to buy twice as much paint as planned...and plan on twice the time too! Some parts of the house were so weather beaten and dry that it took 4 coats to look decent...and there's one wall that we will try to put another coat on before the end of fall.

LOR~Lisa~Between the barn makeover, house projects, horses and haying there is never a dull moment here!

  10. Looks really awesome..I realy know what a good feeling you get from getting a little face lift! I hand-painted my house last fall...by myself. I put more than 3 coats on it as it was awful thirsty and was pretty beat up from the sun, wind and dirt-I still have one side to finish and then on to the outbuildings..looking forward to getting it finished this fall.
