Sunday Stills

I've missed the past two weeks of Sunday Stills...but am happy to report that all is well on the home front here. It's been pretty busy and spring is just getting started.

This week's photo challenge is "Flowers and Plants."

In search of some spring flowers, My Man and I took a ride with the horses and dogs up our hill behind the house. I don't know the names of either of these two, but they are a welcome sight in the high desert.

This lil' one is growing out of the rock.

In a few days,
these will be in full bloom.

Can anyone guess what this plant is?
Hint...we grow a lil' bit of it.

  3. The first one has me stumped. Sure reminds me of a Phlox, but the leaf structure has me scratching my head. The second is Arrowleaf Bitteroot, and I have a hunch the last is alfalfa.

  5. Ha, alfalfa is the last one!! My horses just love the dried flowers in the bales that we get. The first one definitely looks like phlox or vinca but I'm not sure. Great pics.

  28. Thank you everyone for stopping by! Yes, the greenery is alfalfa...the type we planted is called Blazer XL put out by Cenex/Land O lakes.

So I have Wild Phlox and Arrowleaf Bitteroot or Arrowleaf Balsamroot (probably the same thing)...thanks for helping identify the wild flowers!
