Sunday Stills

This week's Sunday Stills challenge was the moon...fairly appropriate since last Monday was a full moon! Luckily, we had a couple of clear nights...unfortunately, I'm lousy at shooting the moon!!

I used the "night" mode on my digital, and it seemed to over expose the shots so the moon looked like a flaming ball.

Well, these were about as good as it got for me...

This last shot actually had enough clarity to see some semblance of detail of the moon. I would have had more fun if hadn't been freezing out, and I wore something warmer than just slippers on my feet!!

If you want to see more "moon shots", visit the comments on this post at Sunday Stills! I'm off to check them out myself~~

  1. All good shots; I always like when there are silouettes in the moonlight. Interesting flat-top hill, bet it's a good place to ride!

  4. I like the first one through the trees. We only saw the moon once this week and it was real cold that night.

  5. It's tough photographing the moon for me too. I'm taking a photography class though, so I'll figure out the right settings for it soon I hope. :-)

  7. Are you kidding - those are fantastic! I am not a photography student, but I know when a picture moves me. I love the moon!

I have a poem that goes with your cloudy moon - I read when I was in highschool. Kinda dorky - but I've remembered it for 20+ years!

    A lover's moon,
    Is shiny and bright,
    Spreading true love,
    Through out the night.

    But a liar's moon,
    Is misty and gray,
    Straining to drive,
    True love away.

Your cloudy moon captures my poem!

    Blessings~

  8. Very pretty! We had a haze around the moon so some pics ended up looking like the sun. I'm sure that my neighbors thought I was crazy in the woods in the dark.

The things we do to get a good shot, stand outside in the freezing cold in our slippers!! LOL

  14. That second shot through the trees with the moon above the butte is stunning. Moon shots are really tough for basic digital cameras, I think. It takes many shots to finally get one you like...not so easy to do in slippers when it's cold outside :D
